Parents' reliance on children lessens as they discover their own ways to meet their needs.
Children learn that their parents' threats don't matter. Threats and punishments run out eventually.
Besides being useless, punishment can have a very rude awakening effect on the child's behavior in the long run. Teenagers are generally thought to be rebellious.
Yelling – scolding, name calling, demanding
Taking away privileges because of their unacceptable behavior may or may not be related to withdrawal or withholding
Children who are late for dinner are made to skip dinner as a logical consequence
Parents ground their children for not doing anything except what they deem necessary
Putting them in isolation - leaving them alone
