A record-breaking goal by Cristiano Ronaldo extended Portugal's record for most international caps as they played Liechtenstein on Thursday.
As Ronaldo returned to the starting line-up and captained his country in the Euro 2024 Group J qualifier at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, he won his 197th cap, surpassing Kuwait's Bader Al Mutawa.
A 51st-minute penalty converted by him gave the home side a 3-0 lead after being 1-0 up at half-time.
The goal extended Ronaldo's international goals record to 119, although he had earlier missed gilt-edged chances when he skied the ball in front of goal.
On the eve of Portugal's first game under new coach Roberto Martinez, he told reporters he loves breaking records.
Martinez says he looks for commitment.
In addition, Ronaldo has a lot of experience that can be passed on to the national team."
