Dallas Cowboys' quarterback signs two-year extension

A quarterback was signed by the Dallas Cowboys on Friday for the 2023 season.

A franchise was awarded to Tony Pollard this offseason.

Dak Prescott's contract was restructured for the offensive line.

To save cap space, Ezekiel Elliott will be released despite being the Cowboys' number two option behind Pollard.

There will now be a better backup quarterback situation next year.

Cooper Rush will be re-signed by the Cowboys to a two-year deal worth up to $6 million, reports the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

A signing bonus of $50,000 is guaranteed for him in 2023.

In Dallas' Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Rush played a key role after Prescott suffered an injury.

He led the Cowboys to four straight victories after returning from injury.
