Lionel Messi's scripts are unbeatable. With Argentina, Messi achieved another extraordinary feat in his first game since winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Messi's free kick sealed a 2-0 win for La Albiceleste against Panama on Thursday.

Messi now has 800 goals for club and country. Messi scored 672 goals in 778 appearances spanning 17 seasons with Barcelona. In 2021-22, he added 29 (and counting).

At 35, he has scored 98 international goals across all competitions, one short of the 100 mark.

In 2023, he scored his first goal for Argentina from a free kick.

A career high 18 goals were scored by him in 2022, including seven in the World Cup.

His eight goals were second only to Kylian Mbappe's eight in the Golden Boot race.
